• About the Role: 

As a sous chef, you will play a critical role in our kitchen management team, working closely with the Head and Executive Chef to ensure the highest standards of culinary excellence. You will also be responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, managing food preparation, and supervising kitchen staff to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Head Chef to create and refine menu items.
• Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, and safety.
• Mentor and train junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
• Manage inventory, ordering, and kitchen supplies to ensure efficient operation.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and kitchen procedures.

Requirements:

• Minimum certificate IV in commercial cookery or higher
• At least 2 years of experience after completing education.
• Strong leadership and organisational skills, creativity in menu planning, excellent time management, and the ability to work under pressure.
• Food Safety and Hygiene certifications preferred.

Applicants who need sponsorship must meet the following criteria, in addition to the previously mentioned requirements:

• A valid English language certificate is required, with a minimum overall IELTS score of 5.5 and no individual component scoring below 5.0.
• Completion of a Skill Assessment from the relevant Australian skill assessing authorities (TRA or VETASSESS) may be required, depending on your passport or the location of your placement.
