JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Preparing a wide variety of products such as cakes, pies, cookies, bread etc
• Assisting the Pastry Chef with developing, imposing and keeping new recipes, displays and products.
• Assisting the Pastry Chef with the coordination and directing of the pastry operation.
• Supervising the preparation and production of all baked goods.
• Inspecting the quality of the ingredients and measuring them for specific recipes.
• Pairing recommended desserts with appropriate wines, cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks etc.
• Controlling the effective storage and stock levels, while constantly being price-aware
• Inspecting the quality of material and condition of equipment and tools used for baking
• Ensuring kitchen equipment is in good condition and meets all requirements
• Providing training and guidance to pastry staff performing related work
• Operating machines that are used for making dough, cake and pastry
• Decorating pastries and cakes to ensure beautiful and tasteful presentation

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

• Relevant qualification to an AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher.
• Minimum 2 years of working experience in the related position should the qualification be highly relevant or at least 3 years if the qualification is not relevant.
• English mastery proven with at least either one of the following:

5.0 for each test component on IELTS test, or

36 for each test component on PTE Academic test, or

35 of total score with minimum of 4 each for listening & reading and 14 each for speaking & writing on TOEFL iBT.

The test must still be valid or have been taken in the last 2 years. A higher English test score may be required depending on the visa requirements.

• Relevant Employment Reference(s) to confirm Applicant’s previous and current work experience. Neurone may request other documentation such as payslips, social or health insurance linked with employment, tax documents to further confirm the employment history and for visa application purposes later on.
• Related occupational training, skill, or competency certificate (e.g. HACCP, Food Safety Standard)
• Valid Skill Assessment outcome from the relevant Australian skill assessing authorities (Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) or VETASSESS) may be required if applicant holds a certain passport or the position is in a regional area.
• No age limitations imposed for the sponsorship program but maximum of 45 years old for the Permanent Resident pathway (age concession may be available for positions in regional areas).
• Never had any criminal record and must be able to pass the national police check.
