About the Role

Typical responsibilities include:
Assist the Head Chef in managing all aspects of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.

• Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
• Collaborate with the Head Chef in creating and updating menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and current culinary trends.
• Ensure consistency and excellence in the quality and presentation of all dishes.
• Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage food costs to maintain budgetary goals.

What We Are Looking For

Complete a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification.

• Minimum 2 years experience as a Jr. Sous Chef or 5 years as a CDP
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff.
• Good communication skills to effectively coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house staff.

Applicants who need sponsorship must meet the following criteria, in addition to the previously mentioned requirements:

• Possession of a valid English language certificate is mandatory, with a minimum overall score of 5.5 and no individual component scoring below 5.0 in the IELTS test
• Successful completion of a Skill Assessment from the appropriate Australian skill assessing authorities (TRA or VETASSESS) may be necessary, contingent on your passport or the location of your placement.
