• About the Role: 

As a Japanese chef, you’ll be the maestro behind the scenes, creating delectable dishes that transport our guests to the heart of Japan. From mastering sushi rolls to crafting savoury ramens, they are served with high quality.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development of the restaurant’s Japanese menu, introducing new and innovative dishes.
• Prepare traditional Japanese sushi, including various types of nigiri, sashimi, and maki rolls.
• Ensure the freshness and quality of all ingredients used and maintain high standards for food presentation.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure the availability of high-quality, authentic Japanese ingredients.
• Minimise food wastage through careful planning and inventory management.

Requirements:

• Completion of a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent
• At least 3 years experience in Japanese Cuisine.
• An in-depth comprehension of traditional Japanese recipes, cooking techniques, and ingredients is necessary.
• Have good communication skills and attitude, familiar with teamwork.

• Having a valid English language certificate is a requirement, with an IELTS test score of at least 5.5 overall and no component falling below 5.0
• Successful completion of a Skill Assessment from the appropriate Australian skill assessing authorities (TRA or VETASSESS) may be required, contingent on your passport or the location of your placement.
