• About the Role: 

As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing traditional Japanese sushi dishes with the highest quality and standards. You will also play a crucial role in ensuring our guests have an exceptional dining experience by delivering beautifully crafted and delicious sushi.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and present a variety of sushi, including maki, nigiri, sashimi, and specialty rolls, with precision and attention to detail.
• Source and select the freshest seafood and ingredients, ensuring top-notch quality and safety.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient sushi station, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with the head chef to create innovative sushi dishes and seasonal menus that delight our guests.
• Engage with guests to provide a personalised dining experience, explaining the menu, and making recommendations.

Requirements:

• Obtain a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Sushi Chef
• Extensive knowledge of traditional sushi-making techniques and Japanese cuisine.
• Strong knife skills and the ability to handle raw fish and other seafood with precision.

Applicants who need sponsorship must meet the following criteria, in addition to the previously mentioned requirements:

• Possession of a valid English language certificate is mandatory, with a minimum overall score of 5.5 and no individual component scoring below 5.0 in the IELTS test
• Successful completion of a Skill Assessment from the appropriate Australian skill assessing authorities (TRA or VETASSESS) may be necessary, contingent on your passport or the location of your placement.
